March Mantra: You are welcome here.

You are welcome here. All of you.

I very, very rarely get political. In fact, I kind of despise talking about politics. It feels like one of those things that too often divides us, pulling good people into heated debates where no one really wins. In my house, I’ve even been known to secretly set a timer when topics like politics, abortion, vaccinations, or religion come up. The timer goes off—loudly—after 15 minutes. And when everyone looks around and asks, “What was that?” I just smile and remind them that our time for that conversation has officially run out. It’s become a bit of a running joke in my family, but at the heart of it, I believe in keeping the peace, keeping the connections, and keeping our focus on what truly brings us together.

But some things? Some things need to be said. What’s happening beyond our southern border—and the way it’s beginning to ripple outward—is impossible to ignore. The loss of freedoms for marginalized groups is something we cannot turn away from.
As the owner of a community-centered business, I want to be very clear: Discrimination of any kind, against any person, has no place at YogaGen.

So let me say it again, loud and clear: You. Are. Welcome. Here.

It does not matter to me—or to the incredible people who work here—what colour your skin is, where you were born, who you love, which gender you identify with, or what God (if any) you pray to. You are welcome here. We all breathe the same air, walk the same earth, and should (in my opinion), have the same rights and liberties. We are connected by what’s inside our hearts. We are all one.

I hope that when you step into our studios, you feel it deep in your bones: This is a place where you belong. That when you roll out your mat, you know you are seen, valued, and safe. That whatever burdens you may carry, you can set them down, even if just for an hour, and breathe a little easier.

The world can feel heavy, especially for those who have historically been pushed to the margins. Hate, judgment, or exclusion will never have a place in this space. YogaGen is, and will always be, a sanctuary of kindness, respect, and inclusion. If you stand for that, you will always have a home here.

With love, always. 💜
