December Mantra: Everything is happening for me.

Everything is happening for me. By me. Spirit is moving through me.

We are what we see, like attracts like. The law of attraction has been talked about for years, especially through books like The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. Do we attract what we think? I’m not sure. I’ve imagined winning the lottery for years, and it has never happened. But what I do know is that choosing to see things as happening for me rather than to me has been a doorway into a more peaceful, harmonious life.

My daughter and I were talking about this the other day as she showed me a YouTube video explaining the law of attraction. She paused it and asked, “Do you believe in this, Mom?”
Of course I do, but not in the oversimplified way it often gets presented. It’s not about sitting back and waiting for life to deliver what you asked for. It’s about allowing Spirit to move through us. It’s about aligning our hearts, our thoughts, and our actions so we can actually notice the opportunities and insights that are already around us.

A few years ago, I quietly removed the word “coincidence” from my vocabulary. I no longer shrug things off as random or accidental. Now, when something lines up in a really uncanny way, I find myself saying, Well… that’s how the universe works. I see these moments as signs, nudges, reminders, whispers from something bigger. Adopting this perspective has turned ordinary life into something sacred and full of meaning.

And when these signs appear, it’s a cue to pause and tune in. To listen to Source. To trust the wisdom that lives in the quiet. There are no mistakes and no real problems, only life unfolding. Every person we meet, every challenge we face, every moment that stirs something inside us is a mirror. Each one is reflecting something we’re ready to learn, something we’re ready to release, or something we’re finally ready to step into.

In yoga, this is the essence of sankalpa, a heartfelt intention, not a wish. A sankalpa is a truth we choose to remember about ourselves. When our inner truth, our thoughts, and our actions align, life begins to respond differently. We start recognizing the blessings that were always there. We become attuned to the subtle magic that’s been waiting under the surface.

And December has a beautiful way of amplifying this. Between the darkness of winter and the soft glow of candles and twinkle lights, this season invites us inward. It asks us to reflect, to soften, and to notice the small miracles, like the sparkle of frost on a window or the warmth of a quiet morning. Even the challenges of the year can become ornaments of growth, each one adding depth and meaning to the tree of our lives.

So this month, my mantra ~ my sankalpa~ is simple:
Everything is happening for me. By me. Spirit is moving through me.

I’m choosing to see the gifts tucked inside everyday moments. To welcome joy whenever it appears. And to let the universe guide me, gently and clearly, one sign at a time.

Whether you celebrate Christmas, the solstice, or simply the turning of another year, I invite you to slow down, breathe into your heart, and let yourself be guided. Notice how life opens when you trust that everything is happening for you.
